PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Butch Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Brashears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brashears has chosen Walk by Pantera as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Butch Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Brashears!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Brashears working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Taylor.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Taylor accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Brashears looking for a guillotine here but Taylor defends easily.
Taylor throws a big right hand that misses.
Taylor missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Taylor trying to control but Brashears is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Taylor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brashears is keeping the position for now.
Taylor slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brashears throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Brashears scores with a body shot.
Taylor takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Taylor is breathing heavily.

Taylor gets the takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brashears dodges the ground and pound from Taylor.
Taylor working away.
Brashears parries the strikes from Taylor easily there. Taylor is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Brashears to escape.
Taylor throws an elbow but Brashears slips to the side and avoids it well.
Brashears sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Taylor lands with a punch from half guard.
Taylor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brashears keeps working.
Brashears wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Taylor is thwarting Brashears's attempts to control the position.
Taylor thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Brashears to regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brashears is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Taylor with a flurry of punches that miss.
Brashears working a defensive guard here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown but Brashears shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Taylor has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Brashears.

Brashears scores with a push kick.
Brashears scores with a hook.
Brashears lands with a kick to the temple. Taylor shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


Taylor is rocked!
Taylor takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon Brashears dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Taylor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brashears avoids it really well and circles away.
Look low, kick high! Brashears uses the oldest trick in the book to send Taylor tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Brashears is absolutely delighted - when Taylor wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Brandon Brashears!
