PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edward Yazerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zlyka Bober (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bober has chosen Angry Bievers as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edward Yazerman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zlyka Bober!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bober is defended easily by Yazerman.

Yazerman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bober's guard.
Bober is controlling Yazerman's posture.
Bober should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Yazerman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Yazerman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Yazerman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bober, pushing him back against the cage.

Yazerman gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bober regains guard.

Yazerman postures up in Bober's guard and throws a big left but Bober blocks it.

Yazerman throws and elbow that misses. Bober uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Yazerman's guard. Nice move by Bober!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bober drops back, looking for a kneebar! Yazerman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Yazerman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Yazerman!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bober misses with a takedown

and Yazerman counters with a single leg into guard. Bober didn't expect that.

Bober is trying to work for a kimura but Yazerman is defending well.
Yazerman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bober on the ground.

Bober is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yazerman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bober.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bober seems to be looking for submissions.

Yazerman kicks Bober off and gets back to his feet.

Bober is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Yazerman has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Yazerman!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Yazerman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bober is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bober has escaped and now he's on top!

Bober drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Yazerman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bober has Yazerman in his guard.
Yazerman stands up over Bober, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Edward Yazerman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Yazerman wants to control from the top but Bober keeps moving.
Bober is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Yazerman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well Yazerman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
