The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapointe displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie.

Gracie drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gracie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lapointe tries to improve position but can't.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Lapointe is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lapointe manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Lapointe's guard.

Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lapointe manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Lapointe in his guard.
