PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ringo Spar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quik Yin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I Got A Feeling (lol :P). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ringo Spar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quik Yin!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yin throws out a loose jab but Spar uses good head movement to avoid it.
Spar connects with a single shot there.
Yin lands a really nice looking cross but Spar seems unphased.
Spar fails with a takedown attempt.
Spar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Yin misses with a wild body shot.
Spar thuds a left hand into Yin's body.

Spar clinches.

Yin pulls guard.

Spar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Yin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Spar has managed to get both his arms back between Yin's legs - danger averted.
Spar wants to control from the top but Yin keeps moving.
Spar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Yin has his foot on Spar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Spar works his way back into a safe position though.

Spar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Spar is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ringo Spar.
Yin missing with a left hand there. Spar was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Spar darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Spar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Spar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Yin's head.
Spar thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Yin is in a horrible position here. Spar smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Spar wants to control the pace but Yin is squirming around nicely.
Yin is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spar looking to control but Yin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Yin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Spar tries to push Yin's head away but Yin is holding on tight.

Spar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Yin is looking to escape.
Yin is trying to escape the mount.
Yin tries to lock up and control but Spar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ringo Spar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Yin misses with a looping right.

Yin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Spar was covering up waiting for the punch and Yin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Yin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Yin trying to control the position from guard on top but Spar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Spar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Spar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Yin on the ground.

Yin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spar is keeping the position for now.
Spar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Spar tries to get out of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Spar punishes Yin's body with a nice straight punch.
Yin is breathing heavily.
Spar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Yin swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Spar shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Spar showed some decent athleticism there.
Spar is stalling here. Yin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Spar seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Yin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Spar is not content to let Yin control the position.
Yin cracks Spar with a big elbow.
Yin moves into full mount!

Yin content just to control the position here.
Spar in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Yin breaks from Spar's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Yin sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Yin looking to ground and pound but Spar is blocking nicely.
Yin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Spar is looking to escape.

Spar is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Spar holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Yin tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Spar tries to hold on but Yin postures up.
Yin trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Quik Yin will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Yin just misses with a punch to the body.
Spar throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Yin tries to clinch but Spar moves out of range.
Spar tries to clinch up but Yin circles away and keeps his distance.

Yin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Yin wants to pass the guard but Spar is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Yin is looking to pass Spar's guard but actually Spar recovers to full guard.

Yin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yin wants to pass the guard but Spar is keeping the position.

Spar scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Quik Yin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Yin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Quik Yin has been cut.
Spar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Spar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Spar breaks the clinch.
Spar throws a right hand that Yin ducks under and follows up with a left that Yin also avoids with ease.
Spar throws a combination that misses

and Yin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Spar won't be happy with that.

Yin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Spar, who protects the arm well.
Yin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Spar regains half guard there - taking advantage of Yin's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Yin is looking for a kimura here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Spar wants to control but Yin is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Yin wants to control but Spar is keeping him busy.
Spar trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Yin manages to pass to mount!
Yin scores with a couple of good head shots there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Quik Yin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Yin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
