PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Maiden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrone Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddie Maiden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyrone Bryant!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maiden fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bryant sprawls well initially but Maiden persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like Maiden is going to stand back up.

Bryant kicks off Maiden and gets to his feet.
Bryant tries to clinch but Maiden is having none of it.
Bryant lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Bryant looks to score with a jab to the body but Maiden is just out of range.
Maiden takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Maiden closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bryant circles away.
Maiden throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bryant.
Tyrone Bryant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maiden throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bryant unloads a knee to the mid-section. Maiden lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Maiden is looking to break free of the clinch but Bryant has double underhooks.

Bryant has Maiden pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Maiden manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Maiden has one foot on Bryant's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Bryant shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maiden but Maiden pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bryant fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Maiden looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Maiden looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Maiden tries to clinch but Bryant moves away

and Bryant counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bryant is working Maiden over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bryant throws a strike but Maiden rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bryant has control of Maiden's left arm, preventing Maiden from doing any damage.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Maiden misses with a two punch combination.

Bryant throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Maiden was covering up waiting for the punch and Bryant finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bryant must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bryant is looking to work some ground and pound but Maiden has wrist control.

and Bryant counters with a takedown into side control.
Maiden tries to bench press Bryant off him but Bryant keeps the position.
Maiden can't do much from the bottom here.
Maiden manages to work his way to half guard, despite Bryant's best efforts.
Bryant wants to take a breather but Maiden is having none of it.
Bryant winds up and cracks Maiden with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Bryant looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Maiden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Maiden changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bryant looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bryant throws a head kick but Maiden moves out of range.

Maiden shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bryant's guard.

Bryant seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Maiden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Tyrone Bryant is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Maiden drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Maiden as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Bryant screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Maiden! Nice submission victory there!
