The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kalishnikov does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Piper looks for a takedown but Kalishnikov sprawls well.

It looks like Detlef Piper has been cut.
Kalishnikov throws a series of punches but Piper moves out of range.

Piper shoots in and bounces Kalishnikov off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Piper wants to stand but Kalishnikov has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kalishnikov seems keen to control Piper's posture.
Kalishnikov wants to stand up but Piper is controlling him.

Kalishnikov has control of Piper's left arm, preventing Piper from doing any damage.

Piper is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kalishnikov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kalishnikov has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kalishnikov gets to his feet - Piper follows without any prompting.
Piper misses with a looping right.
Piper tries to close the distance and clinch but Kalishnikov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Piper slips a jab and a cross from Kalishnikov.
Piper looks for a takedown but Kalishnikov sprawls well.
Piper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kalishnikov as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Detlef Piper. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Piper is breathing heavily.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Kalishnikov! Piper is backing up but he can't get away as Kalishnikov lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Piper and ends the fight. Great knockout.
