Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Don Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Kowalsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Don Simon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Don Simon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Kowalsky!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simon uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kowalsky.
Simon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Simon swats away the attempt to clinch by Kowalsky.

Simon rushes Kowalsky and presses him up against the cage.
Simon lands an elbow inside.
Kowalsky has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Simon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kowalsky has Simon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Simon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A head punch on the inside from Simon fails to land.
Kowalsky wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kowalsky tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Simon smiles and moves away.
Don Simon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Kowalsky.

Simon clinches up with Kowalsky and pushes him back against the cage.
Kowalsky blocks the elbow strike.
Kowalsky tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Simon has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Kowalsky clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Simon has the hooks in. Kowalsky is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Simon is looking for the choke from the back position but Kowalsky is controlling his hands well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simon controlling the position well here. Kowalsky rolled but Simon kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Kowalsky tries to break free.

Simon is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Simon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Simon controlling well, preventing Kowalsky from escaping the position.
Simon lands a shot to the head.
Simon is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Kowalsky is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Simon keeps control of the position easily here as Kowalsky tries to buck him off.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Simon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kowalsky for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Don Simon.

Kowalsky is working for takedown but Simon is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kowalsky goes for a takedown in the clinch but Simon prevents it.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Kowalsky is trying to break free.
Come on Simon - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Simon gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Simon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kowalsky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Simon is one step ahead there.
Kowalsky looks gassed!

Kowalsky looking for a guillotine here but Simon defends easily.
Simon showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Simon closes the distance and pushes Kowalsky back into the cage.
Kowalsky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Simon manages to break the clinch.

Simon has Kowalsky pushed against the cage.
Kowalsky wants a takedown.
The referee calls for Simon to work.

Simon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Simon tries to bum rush Kowalsky with a series of wild strikes but Kowalsky uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Simon goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Kowalsky is looking to break free of the clinch but Simon has double underhooks.
Simon lands an elbow inside that Kowalsky shrugs off.
A bit of stalling here from Simon.

Simon gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Simon prevents Kowalsky from improving his position.
Kowalsky is breathing heavily.
Simon is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Simon is thwarting Kowalsky's attempts to control the position.

Simon gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Kowalsky thuds his right hand into Simon's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Simon forces Kowalsky back against the cage and clinches.

Simon gets control of Kowalsky's arms and successfully pulls guard. Simon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Simon is looking to stand up but Kowalsky isn't so interested in that idea.

Kowalsky drops back, looking for a kneebar! Simon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Simon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Simon!

Simon is putting a hurting on Kowalsky here, landing some big shots from side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Simon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Kowalsky is letting Simon control him for a moment.
Kowalsky is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Simon off and has taken his back!

Kowalsky looking to break Simon's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Simon remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Kowalsky will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Kowalsky circles away from the clinch attempt.
Simon throws a chopping leg kick but Kowalsky manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Simon instigates a clinch.
Kowalsky has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Simon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Simon gets through Kowalsky's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Simon lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Simon is stalling here.
Kowalsky fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Simon turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Simon in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Kowalsky takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Simon is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kowalsky's shoulder. That is not cool.
Kowalsky is looking for a sweep.
Simon controls the position.

Simon decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Simon tries to clinch up but Kowalsky circles away and keeps his distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kowalsky misses with a jab, cross combination.

Simon looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Kowalsky looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Simon is defending well. Kowalsky quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Simon has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Kowalsky celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
