PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matsufubu Rofuru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tane Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rofuru comes to the cage accompanied by Tetsuya Komuro - Speed 2. Thompson has chosen it was over as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tane Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rofuru looks to score with a jab to the body but Thompson is just out of range.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rofuru doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rofuru manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rofuru working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thompson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Thompson slips a straight right by Rofuru.
Rofuru looks to land a left hand but Thompson moved out of range nicely.
Thompson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rofuru looks for the body kick but Thompson saw that one coming.
Rofuru catches Thompson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Thompson moves out of range as Rofuru strikes.
Thompson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rofuru stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Thompson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rofuru looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Thompson throws a sloppy head kick and Rofuru moves out of range easily.
Thompson misses with a hook. Rofuru ducked under it nicely.
Rofuru lands with a hook. Thompson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

No joy there for Rofuru, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Rofuru is nestled in close to Thompson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rofuru seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thompson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Thompson wants to land a leg kick but Rofuru is out of range.

Rofuru throws a nice looking combination but Thompson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
