Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cody Crossman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gino Carano!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crossman clinches up against the cage.
Crossman unloads a knee to the mid-section. Carano lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Carano changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Crossman fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Carano fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Cody Crossman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gino Carano.
Crossman tries to clinch but Carano is having none of it.
Carano shoots in for a takedown but Crossman shows good takedown defense.

Crossman pushes Carano up against the cage in a clinch.
Carano has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Crossman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Crossman moves in looking to clinch but Carano pushes him off.
Carano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crossman tries to avoid it but Carano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crossman to the ground. Crossman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Crossman gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Carano tries for a takedown. No joy.
Carano tries to score a body lock takedown but Crossman shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Carano tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Crossman smiles and moves away.
Carano throws a low kick, looking for Crossman's leg but Crossman calmly moves out of range.

Crossman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carano paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Carano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crossman tries to avoid it but Carano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crossman to the ground. Crossman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carano swats away the attempt to clinch by Crossman.
Crossman is looking to clinch.
Carano shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Crossman dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Carano shoots in for a double leg but Crossman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Crossman counters with a leg kick.
Carano changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Crossman tries to avoid it but Carano manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Crossman to the ground. Crossman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Crossman counters by moving into the clinch.

Crossman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Carano wants a takedown but no success here.

Carano is breathing heavily.
Crossman lands a damaging elbow.
Crossman throws a knee to the head but misses.

Carano changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Crossman fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Carano counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Crossman is not content to let Carano control the position.

Carano is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Crossman wants to control but Carano is keeping busy.
Carano wants to pass the guard but Crossman is defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Crossman wants to clinch but Carano slips to the side

and Carano counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Crossman pulls Carano in close to prevent any damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Crossman holds on and takes a little breather.
Carano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crossman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Crossman is trying to stand.
Crossman trying to hold on to Carano's head to control him but Carano postures up.
Crossman is controlling Carano's trapped leg to prevent Carano from advancing to side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Carano is thwarting Crossman's attempts to control the position.
Carano is trying to control the action in half guard but Crossman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Crossman is looking to improve his position.

Carano seems to be working for a kimura but Crossman defends the submission attempt.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Crossman rushes Carano and presses him up against the cage.
Crossman lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gino Carano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Crossman clinches but Carano breaks the clinch

and Carano counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Crossman's guard now.
Carano won't allow Crossman to sweep him here.
Carano looking to sit in guard and control but Crossman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Carano looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crossman is one step ahead there.
Crossman wanted to stand there but Carano had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carano is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Carano has his feet on Crossman's thighs here. He's pushed Crossman off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Crossman screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
