PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mr Stigu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heikki Mela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stigu kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Sabrina, Boys. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mr Stigu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Heikki Mela!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stigu throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mela defending well as Stigu loads up on a big left hand.
Mela takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nice defenses there by Mela.
Mela changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stigu tries to avoid it but Mela manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stigu to the ground. Stigu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mela dives in and grabs Stigu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stigu pushes down on Mela's head and hops out.
A swing and a miss from Stigu.
Stigu tries to close the distance and clinch but Mela swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mela shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mr Stigu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heikki Mela.
Stigu swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mr Stigu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mela blocks a jab.
Stigu looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mela shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Stigu tries to hold on but Mela postures up.
Stigu wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Mela.
Mela avoids the attempt from Stigu to control.

Mela goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Stigu is on top in guard.
Mela is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stigu is controlling him.

Mela wriggles free and stands up.
Stigu dips to his left and cracks Mela with an uppercut!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stigu thows a left - swing and a miss!
The fighters circle momentarily. Stigu darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mela lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mela clinches up against the cage.

Mela decides to pull guard.
Mela wants to stand up but Stigu is controlling him.
Mela avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stigu stays in close to Mela's body and controls the position.
Stigu in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Stigu thows a big elbow that misses.

Mela scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Stigu throws the left hand but Mela avoids the punch easily.

Mela fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stigu, pushing him back against the cage.

Mela breaks the clinch.
Stigu takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mela jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Stigu walks away with a smile on his face. Mela gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Stigu is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Nice combo by Stigu! Oh, that's hurt him - Mela falls to the canvas and Stigu follows him into side control.

It looks like Heikki Mela has been cut.
Mela looks gassed!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Stigu cracks Mela with a big right hand but Mela just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mela tries to bench press Stigu off him but Stigu keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stigu in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Stigu lands a nice forearm strike.
Stigu throws an elbow but Mela slips to the side and avoids it well.
Stigu in side control, throwing shots but Mela defends.
Stigu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mela keeps working.
Stigu is trying to ground and pound but Mela uses the momentary lack of control by Stigu to regain half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stigu throws a strike but Mela avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mr Stigu dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Heikki Mela's cut.
That's time! Stigu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A looping hook to the body misses from Stigu. Mela does a little dance to reset his feet.
Heikki Mela is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mela moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Mela clinches with his opponent.

Mela successfully pulls guard.
Mela pulls Stigu in to control the position.
Mela keeping moving, preventing Stigu from controlling successfully.

Mela pushes Stigu off and gets back to his feet.
Stigu misses with a jab, cross combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mela moves into the clinch.

Mela drags the fight down to the ground.
Mela is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mela wants to sweep here but Stigu controlling him for the moment.
Stigu missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Mela kicks Stigu off and gets to his feet.
Mela shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stigu pinned against the cage. Stigu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stigu looks to throw the jab but Mela is out of range.

Stigu misses the jab.
Mela fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mela shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Stigu on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Mela tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Mela working Stigu over with strikes.

Mela wants to control but Stigu is keeping him busy.

Mela maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Stigu could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mela has cracked it and Stigu is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mela!
