The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mehl closes the distance and clinches.

Mehl breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mehl shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mehl prevents Kline from improving his position.

Mehl is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kline has managed to free his arm - good work.

Mehl is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kline sees it coming and defends easily.

Kline moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kline is on top in guard.

Mehl escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kline gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kline drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kline jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kline passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Kline goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mehl has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kline but great work by Mehl.
Kline is looking for a sweep.

Mehl thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mehl is breathing heavily.
Kline regains half guard.
Kline manages to get to full guard.
Kline manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kline swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mehl is now in Kline's guard. A big mistake from Kline there, giving up the dominant position!
Mehl wants to control from the top but Kline keeps moving.

Kline is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mehl defends well.
