PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Marcurius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Neder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derek Neder told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Neder shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Marcurius is trying to defend but Neder finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Marcurius is trying to maintain the position but Neder is very close to passing his half guard.

Marcurius holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marcurius has hold of Neder's hands but Neder slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Neder must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Marcurius pulls Neder in close to his closed guard and prevents Neder from doing any damage or advancing position.
Neder trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Neder wants to pass the guard but Marcurius is keeping the position.
Marcurius on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Marcurius tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Marcurius scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Neder is trying to get back to half guard.

Marcurius is working to tighten is grip on Neder's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Neder has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Marcurius is really squeezing tight and eventually Neder passes out! Marcurius breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
