The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoffmann lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

It looks like Dan Severn has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Severn darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hoffmann keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Hoffmann on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hoffmann tries to get out of the position.
Hoffmann is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Severn's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Severn's back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Severn looking very determined here, making life difficult for Hoffmann.
Severn is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Hoffmann punishes Severn with strikes from the back mount.
Hoffmann lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.

That has opened up Dan Severn's cut even more.

Severn controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Hoffmann struggling to land strikes to the head as Severn covers up.
Severn is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Hoffmann scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Severn is looking for a way out.

The cut above Dan Severn's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dan Severn's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
