And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian McGilla!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Creek tries to close the distance and clinch up but McGilla swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Nice takedown defense from Creek. No joy for McGilla on that attempt.

Creek pushes McGilla up against the cage in a clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Creek gets caught flat footed, as McGilla shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Creek bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McGilla's guard.
McGilla is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

McGilla looking for a guillotine here but Creek defends easily.
McGilla is pulling down on Creek's head. It's preventing any offense from Creek, at least for the moment.

and McGilla counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Creek's guard now.
Creek keeping moving, preventing McGilla from controlling successfully.

Creek kicks McGilla off and gets to his feet.

McGilla keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Creek's efforts to push away.
Creek is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Creek is pressed up against the cage. McGilla has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Creek down to the mat. Creek avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Creek scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and McGilla counters with a takedown into side control.

McGilla staying calm.
Creek is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McGilla is controlling him well.
Creek is not content to let McGilla control the position.

Creek is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGilla thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Creek wants to get back to his feet but McGilla drags him back down.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
McGilla shoots in for a takedown but Creek shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Creek fails to land with a series of punches.
McGilla ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
McGilla lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Creek closes the distance looking to clinch

and McGilla counters with a nice double leg into side control. Creek won't be happy with that.
McGilla working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McGilla goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Creek has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for McGilla but great work by Creek.

Brian McGilla showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

McGilla has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Creek regains guard immediately.
McGilla wants to control from the top but Creek keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McGilla wants to pass the guard but Creek is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Creek is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McGilla is defending well for now.

McGilla wants the takedown. Creek is fighting it off but McGilla persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Creek's guard against the cage.
