PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Pandora (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jason Young told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ronnie Pandora!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Young.
Young tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pandora swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Young throws a nice inside leg kick.
Young gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pandora.
Pandora throws a jab but it's blocked by Young.
Young lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Young.
Pandora scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Young shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pandora's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Young stands up from Pandora's guard - Young perhaps looking for a knockout.
Nice defenses there by Young.
Jason Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pandora fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Young checks it well.
Pandora misses with an uppercut.
Young throws a front kick aimed at Pandora's knee but Pandora avoids it well.

and Young counters with an outside leg kick.

Young thows a leg kick but Pandora checks it
and Pandora counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Pandora fails to land with a series of punches.
Young dodges the punch combination from Pandora.
Young walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Pandora checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Young fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pandora manages to avoid it.

Young closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pandora is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Young decides to stand back up. Young steps back and let's Pandora get back to his feet.
Young tries to clinch but Pandora is having none of it.
Young throws a chopping leg kick but Pandora manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Young avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Young shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pandora counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Young throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Young tries for a takedown but Pandora sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pandora lands with a nice body punch.
Pandora getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Pandora fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Young uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pandora.

Young tries a head kick but it misses.
Pandora throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pandora scores with a jab to the body.
Young blocks a leg kick.
Pandora throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Young.
Pandora jabs at Young's body.
Pandora stalks Young and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Young's face. Young staggers backwards, shaken.

Young is rocked!
Young looks gassed!

Pandora lands a left and a right that send Young crashing to the mat, dazed. Pandora thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Young is still on wobbly legs! Can Pandora finish him?
A head kick misses from Young.
Ronnie Pandora is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Pandora throws a nice looking combination but Young bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pandora throws a big shot that misses.
Pandora drops Young with a straight right hand, right on the button! Pandora follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
