PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ty Ruud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruud has chosen Peter Gabriel: Sledgehammer as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ty Ruud!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida scoring well with a low kick there.
A big right from Ruud misses.
Machida tries a head kick but it misses.
Ruud just misses with a punch to the body.
Machida throws a sloppy head kick and Ruud moves out of range easily.
Machida dodges the punch combination from Ruud.
Machida goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Ruud fails with a takedown attempt.
Ruud throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Machida's waist but Machida gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ruud off to one side.
Machida moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Ruud looks gassed!
Machida throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Ruud.

It looks like Ty Ruud has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ruud is defended easily by Machida.
Apollo Machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ty Ruud.
Machida cracks the inside of Ruud's front leg.
Ruud is trying desperately to land a takedown but Machida is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Ruud.
Machida connects with a solid leg kick.
Machida scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Ruud steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Machida. That one must have hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whack! Machida lands a heavy head kick that drops Ruud. The ref tackles Machida to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Ruud was done.
