PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson McLane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thales Siqueira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLane has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anderson McLane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thales Siqueira!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Siqueira rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McLane moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
McLane dives in and grabs Siqueira's left leg, looking for a takedown. Siqueira pushes down on McLane's head and hops out.
Siqueira gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so McLane counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McLane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McLane is breathing heavily.
McLane stops Siqueira from standing up.
McLane throws a big right hand that misses.

Siqueira scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Anderson McLane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Siqueira drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Siqueira controls the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that Siqueira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
McLane is trying to buck Siqueira off.
Siqueira happy to just control the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Thales Siqueira.

Siqueira shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Siqueira showed some decent athleticism there.
Siqueira content to control rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Siqueira's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Thales Siqueira.
Siqueira lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Siqueira shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McLane counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Siqueira is trying to stand.
McLane missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
McLane looks to land a strike but Siqueira avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Siqueira manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McLane manages to get himself to full guard.
Siqueira stays in close to McLane's body and controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thales Siqueira dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Anderson McLane's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



McLane gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Siqueira to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Siqueira controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Siqueira won't allow McLane to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Siqueira looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Thales Siqueira has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Thales Siqueira.

Siqueira shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McLane tries to hold on but Siqueira pushes him away.
Siqueira takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Siqueira looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Siqueira controlling from the full mount.

Siqueira looking to isolate an arm here. McLane doesn't see it coming and as Siqueira extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Siqueira!
