The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Iberico has managed to clinch.

Iberico shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alves manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Iberico wants to pass the guard but Alves is keeping the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Iberico counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Iberico with the ground and pound but Alves uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ibericois looking to pass into half guard but Alves pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Alves is in guard.
Alves postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Iberico is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Alves postures up and lands a big shot to Iberico's brow.

Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Iberico swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alves is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Iberico is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Alves thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Alves throws a strike but Iberico rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Iberico tries to clinch up but Alves circles away and keeps his distance.

and Alves counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Alves.
Alves keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Iberico's head.
Iberico looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Alves puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Alves seems to be looking for submissions.
Iberico wants to improve his position but Alves is controlling well.
Iberico moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Alves is looking to work some ground and pound but Iberico has wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Alves slips a nice elbow through Iberico's hands, connecting with Iberico's forehead.

Iberico has hold of Alves's hands but Alves slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Alves is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Iberico has managed to free his arm - good work.
Alves is working for a submission of some sort.
Iberico works his way to full guard. Good work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves thows a big elbow that misses.
Alves content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alves's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Iberico is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Alves is aware though and is defending well.
Iberico is striking but Alves is not phased and passes to half guard.
Alves working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Alves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Iberico with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Alves is looking to advance position but Iberico won't allow it.
Alves maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Iberico could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Alves has cracked it and Iberico is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Alves!
