PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nacho Libre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladislav Gorki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vladislav Gorki told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Libre moves into the clinch successfully.

Libre decides to pull guard.
Libre might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Libre is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Gorki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Libre is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gorki would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Libre working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gorki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gorki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Libre kicks Gorki off and gets to his feet.
Libre avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gorki tries to score a power double leg takedown but Libre sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gorki somewhat.
Libre throws a head kick that misses.

Gorki fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Libre sprawls well initially but Gorki persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Libre misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Libre gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Libre connects with a nasty looking knee right to Gorki's face.

It looks like Vladislav Gorki has been cut.
Libre lands an elbow that stopped Gorki in his tracks for a moment.
Libre jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gorki walks away with a smile on his face. Libre gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Libre takes one to the chin there.
Nacho Libre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gorki doesn't manage to clinch there - Libre circles away.

Gorki clinches up with Libre and pushes him back against the cage.

Libre ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Libre no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Gorki wants to pass the guard but Libre is keeping the position.

Libre is looking for a triangle but Gorki pushes his legs off easily.
Libre is breathing heavily.
Libre keeping moving, preventing Gorki from controlling successfully.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Libre has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Gorki doesn't defend quickly enough and Libre has managed to lock this one up! Can Gorki escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Libre on a fantastic submission victory.
