PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leo Wyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Firefox Thunderbird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wyatt comes to the cage accompanied by Tori Amos-Sleeps with Butterflies. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thunderbird shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wyatt's guard.
Thunderbird passes Wyatt's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wyatt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wyatt wants to control but Thunderbird is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Thunderbird is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Wyatt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Thunderbird thows a huge punch but Wyatt dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Thunderbird prevents Wyatt from standing back up.
Wyatt tries to get to full guard but Thunderbird has control of the leg.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wyatt ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Wyatt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Wyatt tried to score with a low kick but Thunderbird checks it.
Wyatt avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Wyatt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thunderbird.

Wyatt lands with a cross.
Thunderbird dodges the punch combination from Wyatt.
Wyatt blocks a jab.
Wyatt connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Thunderbird avoids a kick to the body.

Thunderbird throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wyatt was covering up waiting for the punch and Thunderbird finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Thunderbird is in close to Wyatt's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Wyatt controls Thunderbird momentarily but Thunderbird frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wyatt wants to sweep but no luck.
Thunderbird is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Thunderbird throws a big shot that misses.
Wyatt stuffs the takedown attempt from Thunderbird. Thunderbird gets slowly back to his feet.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Wyatt, right into the meat.
Wyatt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Thunderbird on the side of the head.
Thunderbird walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Thunderbird takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Thunderbird takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Wyatt lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Thunderbird looks gassed!
Thunderbird throws the left hand but Wyatt avoids the punch easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Wyatt connects with a crisp jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thunderbird shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wyatt will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Wyatt wants to stand but Thunderbird is controlling the position.
Wyatt trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Wyatt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thunderbird on the ground.

Thunderbird is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Wyatt.
Wyatt throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Thunderbird closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wyatt did well to prevent Thunderbird getting side control.

Thunderbird is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Thunderbird throws a strike but Wyatt avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Wyatt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Thunderbird's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wyatt is on top in guard.
Wyatt cracks Thunderbird with a solid left hand.
Wyatt distracts Thunderbird with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Wyatt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Wyatt stands up over Thunderbird, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thunderbird manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wyatt manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Thunderbird drops his hands momentarily and Wyatt takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Thunderbird tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wyatt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Thunderbird somewhat.
Wyatt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Thunderbird takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wyatt lands with a good body shot.
Wyatt throws a one two combo.
Wyatt scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Thunderbird doesn't seem bothered though.
Wyatt fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Wyatt takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

No joy there for Wyatt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Thunderbird is breathing heavily.

Wyatt jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Leo Wyatt is winning the standup battle so far.
Wyatt cracks Thunderbird with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

The fighters circle momentarily. Wyatt darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Wyatt lands with a shot to the body.
Wyatt thows a body kick. Thunderbird tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Wyatt scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
