Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamison McGown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGown's entrance music is Tomoyasu Hotei - Battle Without Honor Or Humanity. A fine choice. McGown is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Jamison McGown has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Mason!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason tries to clinch there but McGown circles away.
McGown is breathing heavily.
Mason tries to clinch up.

Mason shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McGown is trying to defend but Mason finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
It looks like Mason is going to stand back up.
McGown blocking the ground and pound attempt from Mason.

Mason thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McGown's head.
Mason looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
McGown is refusing to be controlled, as Mason sits in half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mason shoots in but McGown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mason misses with a takedown attempt - McGown sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mason is looking to score with low kicks.
Mason fails to land the takedown.
Jamison McGown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Mason.

Mason throws a push kick but McGown slaps the foot to one side.
Mason shoots for a double leg takedown but McGown sprawls well. He's pushed Mason's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mason tries to clinch up but McGown circles away and keeps his distance.

Mason shoots in looking for a takedown. McGown tries to sprawl out of it but Mason keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McGown paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mason shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McGown as he avoids it easily.

McGown just misses with a punch to the body.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mason shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McGown defends it nicely.
Mason tries to clinch but McGown moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jamison McGown will probably get the nod.

Mason shoots in for a takedown but McGown shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mason is trying to break the clinch but McGown is controlling him.
Mason throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Mason wants to get back to striking at distance but McGown won't allow it.
McGown wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mason.
Mason is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McGown is defending well for now.
Mason has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McGown is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mason fails to pull guard.
A short body shot lands from Mason as the two fighters clinch.
Still in the clinch, Mason scores with a nice short uppercut.
Mason tried to land a shot to the body but connects with McGown's elbow.
Mason jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McGown walks away with a smile on his face. Mason gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Mason misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McGown swats away the attempt to clinch by Mason.

Mason closes this distance looking for a takedown but McGown circles away.
McGown blocks a head kick by Mason.
Mason fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mason shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mason controlling the action here.

Mason is trying to control the action in half guard but McGown is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mason not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

McGown leaves Mason with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mason shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts McGown as he jumps to the side.
McGown has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McGown sprawls well. McGown wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mason gets slowly back to his feet.

Mason lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Mason presses McGown against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Mason tries to pull guard but McGown holds him up against the cage and eventually Mason drops back down to his feet.

McGown stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McGown wants it to stay on the feet.
McGown slaps away a takedown attempt from Mason, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A jab from McGown finds it's way through Mason's defenses.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A nice leg kick lands there from McGown.
Nice sprawl there from McGown as Mason shoots in.
McGown throws a body punch but Mason moves out of range.
McGown swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mason counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mason shoots in but McGown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mason avoids the body shot from McGown.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mason moves in looking to clinch but McGown pushes him off.
McGown takes a swing at Mason's ribcage but misses.
McGown displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mason.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jamison McGown showed his dominance in that final round.
I think McGown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
