PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Topham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller has chosen Bad Company - Bad Company as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Topham!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Miller!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Topham gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Miller to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Topham swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Topham working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Topham is staying active underneath Miller, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Miller is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Miller looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Miller postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Topham looks a forlorn figure.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Topham sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Topham fails with the takedown

and Miller counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Miller sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Topham's guard.

Miller looking to sit in guard and control but Topham gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Damian Miller is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

I would just about give that final round to Damian Miller.
Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
