I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Juan Dela Cruz was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Juan Dela Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gilstrap shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gilstrap looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dela Cruz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gilstrap is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Gilstrap's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

He's trying desperately to grab hold of Gilstrap around the waist but Gilstrap pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Gilstrap is the winner by TKO! Gilstrap jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
