Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sherman Tribbett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rudy Szmidt!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szmidt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Szmidt lands with a cross.
Tribbett takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Szmidt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Szmidt closes the distance and pushes Tribbett back into the cage.
Tribbett wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Tribbett can't get the takedown.
Tribbett wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Szmidt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Szmidt tries to close the distance and clinch but Tribbett swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Tribbett shoots for a double leg takedown but Szmidt sprawls well. He's pushed Tribbett's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tribbett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Szmidt pinned against the cage. Szmidt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sherman Tribbett. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Szmidt moves in looking to clinch but Tribbett pushes him off.
Szmidt lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Szmidt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tribbett backs up against the cage.
Szmidt has closed the distance and engaged Tribbett in a clinch.
Tribbett works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Szmidt working for a triangle but Tribbett defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Tribbett stopping the sweep attempt from Szmidt.
Szmidt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tribbett is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Szmidt is trying to land a reversal but Tribbett doesn't like that idea too much. He pushed the legs to the side and dives into side control. He's managed to grab a loose arm triangle. Tribbett is tightening it up though! This could be trouble for Szmidt! Szmidt trying desperately to escape but he's gone limp! He's out! Wooooorld class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Tribbett!
