The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piper lands a nice hook to Diaz's body. Diaz takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Piper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Diaz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Piper is looking to get back to his feet here but Diaz is keeping cool and he's managed to take Piper's back.
