PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Emilio Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dalern Hardt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dalern Hardt was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark slaps away a takedown attempt from Hardt, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Stark shoots and misses

and Hardt decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stark's guard.

Hardt is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stark is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stark has escaped and now he's on top!
Stark trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Hardt throws his legs up looking for a submission but Stark uses it to pass to side control.
Hardt is looking for a sweep.
Stark takes a little break here. Hardt wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Hardt sneaks back into half guard.
Hardt is staying active underneath Stark, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hardt looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stark is trying to control the action in half guard but Hardt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hardt is pressing down on Stark's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Hardt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hardt wants to stand and escape but Stark is having none of it.
Hardt looks gassed!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stark trying to control the position from guard on top but Hardt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Stark decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Stark shoots for a double leg takedown but Hardt sprawls well. He's pushed Stark's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hardt is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stark is controlling him.

Stark drops back looking for a leg! Hardt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hardt manages to kick Stark off! Stark jumps back into Hardt's guard.

Stark trying to control but Hardt is working from the bottom.
Stark sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hardt's guard.
Hardt wants to control but Stark is keeping busy.

Stark is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hardt is just riding it out for now. Stark eventually gives up the hold.
Stark works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hardt keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Stark get's back to his feet.
Hardt misses with a takedown

and Stark counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stark.
Emilio Stark has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dalern Hardt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hardt throws his legs up looking for a submission but Stark uses it to pass to side control.

Stark tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emilio Stark dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Hardt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stark.
Stark shoots in for a takedown but Hardt shows good takedown defense.

and Stark counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hardt won't be happy with that.

Hardt wants to improve his position, back to half guard but Stark has ideas of his own. He's got hold of Hardt's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Hardt is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Stark!
