PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ultimate Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luiz Charneski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warrior comes to the cage accompanied by Korn-Freak on a leash. Charneski has chosen Pongale por las hileras as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ultimate Warrior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Charneski!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charneski cracks Warrior with a right hand to the side of the head.
Warrior ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Warrior closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Warrior is looking for a kimura but Charneski is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Warrior to get the leverage.

Warrior escapes and gets back to his feet.
A punch combination from Warrior misses.
Charneski connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Charneski looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Charneski looks gassed!
Warrior is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Warrior looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Charneski with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Warrior has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Charneski has hold of Warrior's hands but Warrior slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Warrior thows a huge punch but Charneski dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Warrior wants to pass the guard but Charneski is defending well.
Warrior is taking a breather. Charneski says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Warrior throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Warrior not doing much here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Warrior is controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ultimate Warrior just wasn't active enough.
Warrior misses with a takedown
and Warrior takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Warrior closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Warrior lands in his opponent's guard.
Warrior wants to control from the top but Charneski keeps moving.
Warrior is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Warrior postures up and lands a big shot to Charneski's brow.
Warrior trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Warrior in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Charneski is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Charneski tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Warrior throwing strikes from guard but Charneski blocks nicely.
Charneski wants to sweep here but Warrior controlling him for the moment.

Warrior stands up over Charneski, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Warrior controls from within his opponent's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Warrior accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Warrior connects with a couple of short punches.
Warrior content to stall in guard here.
Charneski is looking to sweep but instead, Warrior has passed into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Charneski is staying active underneath Warrior, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Warrior is working for a kimura but Charneski is defending it quite comfortably.
Warrior performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Charneski gets back to full guard.
Charneski keeping moving, preventing Warrior from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Warrior decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Charneski, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ultimate Warrior dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


No luck for Warrior with that takedown attempt.
Warrior connects with an inside leg kick.
Warrior tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Charneski swivels and escapes.
Warrior shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Charneski defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ultimate Warrior. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Warrior throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Charneski counters with a straight right hand.
Charneski throws a jab when Warrior was well out of range.

Warrior decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Warrior seems to be looking for submissions.
Charneski works his way to full guard. Good work.
Warrior trying to control the position from guard on top but Charneski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Warrior stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Warrior tries for a takedown but Charneski circles away easily

and Charneski counters with a shoot takedown. Warrior fights it but they end up in guard.

Warrior looking for a sweep. Not yet Warrior, not yet.

Charneski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Warrior has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Charneski has managed to get both his arms back between Warrior's legs - danger averted.
Charneski pushes down on Warrior's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Warrior is trying to control but can't.
Charneski slips a nice elbow through Warrior's hands, connecting with Warrior's forehead.
Charneski prevents Warrior from improving his position.
Charneski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warrior keeps working.
Warrior wants to improve his position but Charneski is controlling well.
Charneski lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Ultimate Warrior overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Warrior wants to get back to full guard.

Charneski throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Warrior regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Charneski.
Warrior working a defensive guard here.
Warrior keeping moving, preventing Charneski from controlling successfully.
Warrior bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Charneski's guard.
Warrior seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Warrior stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Charneski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Warrior's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Warrior tries to free his leg and advance position but Charneski is retaining full guard.
Warrior is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ultimate Warrior wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Warrior tries for a takedown but Charneski circles away easily
and Charneski counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Warrior gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Charneski counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Warrior shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Charneski counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Charneski cracks Warrior with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Warrior needs to keep his hands up - Charneski had a free shot at his head there.

Charneski shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Charneski is looking for a kimura but Warrior is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Charneski to get the leverage.

Charneski is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Warrior sees it coming and defends easily.

Warrior is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Charneski is tapping! Great win for Warrior!
