Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Davi Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grayson Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davis is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Epic - Faith No More. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davi Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Grayson Davis!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves has Davis up against the cage in a clinch.
Alves prevents a takedown attempt there.
Alves tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Alves tries a body shot but Davis blocks it.
Davis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Alves gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Davis has Alves pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Alves manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Davi Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grayson Davis.
Davis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Alves is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Alves tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Davis avoids it.
Davis tries to score a body lock takedown but Alves shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Davis has clasped his hands together around Alves's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Davis stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Davis drops his hands momentarily and Alves takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


It looks like Grayson Davis has been cut.
Alves scores with a nice head shot.
Davis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Davis wants it to stay on the feet.
Davis scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Davis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Alves's guard.
Davis looks gassed!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Alves is on top in guard.
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Davis looking for a guillotine here but Alves defends easily.

Alves got a little sloppy there for a moment and Davis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alves has managed to get both his arms back between Davis's legs - danger averted.
Alves landing some decent shots from guard.
Alves pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.
Alves is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Alves pushes down on Davis's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Alves decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Davis tries to close the distance and clinch but Alves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Davis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Alves counters with a leg kick.
Davis works over Alves's head and body with a nice combination.
Danga de danga de dang - Davis scores with a four punch combination!
Davis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alves.
Alves listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Davis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Alves.
Alves clobbers Davis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Davis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alves scores with a sloppy right hand. Davis should have avoided that one.
Alves scores with a shot to the body.

Alves darts in and clinches Davis up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alves scores with a shoulder strike.
Alves scores with a nice hook to the head.

Alves manages to break the clinch.
Davis works over Alves's head and body with a nice combination.
Alves scores with a jab.
Alves catches Davis with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Alves uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Davis.
Alves lands with a kick to the ribs.
Alves misses with a straight left.
Alves misses with a double jab.
Left hook, right uppercut from Alves.
Davis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Davis wants to clinch but Alves slips to the side

and Alves counters by moving into the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Alves as the two fighters clinch.
Alves digs a right hand underneath Davis's ribcage. Davis let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Davis tries for a takedown. No joy.
Alves prevents a takedown attempt there.
Alves's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Nice body punch from Alves - that landed with a thud.
Alves lands a hook that snaps the head of Davis backwards.
Alves digs a right hand into Davis's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Davis's gas tank.
Alves prevents a takedown attempt there.
Alves lands a body shot in the clinch.

Davis blocks a body shot from Alves.
A head punch on the inside from Alves fails to land.
Davis can't get the takedown.
Alves pushes Davis back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Alves is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Davis can't fight it off and eventually Alves manages to take the fight to the floor. Davis looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Alves connects with a couple of short punches.
Davis tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Alves postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Alves working some strikes from top position.
Alves pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves with a flurry of punches that miss.

Alves drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Davis manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Alves has Davis in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Alves's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Davis scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves trying to control but Davis postures up.
Davis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
Alves gets back to full guard.

Alves working for a triangle but Davis defends it easily.
Davis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Alves is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Davis prevents Alves from getting back to his feet.
Alves keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.

Davis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Davis throws his legs up looking for a submission but Alves uses it to pass to side control.
Davis is looking for a sweep.

Alves drops an elbow to the side of Davis's head.

Alves is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Davis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Alves.

Davis actively working from the bottom here.

Alves is trying to work for a kimura but Davis is defending well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Davis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Alves can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Alves drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alves jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Davis is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Grayson Davis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Davis escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Davis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Alves's best efforts.

Alves thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Davis's head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Davis is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Alves pulls his head out easily.
Davis manages to get to full guard.

Davis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Davis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Davis is looking to take a break and control but Alves is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Davi Alves.
I think Alves has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
