PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Kokucka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Moss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Kokucka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Moss!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moss gets the takedown into side control.
Kokucka is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moss working away.
Moss remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Kokucka wants to control but Moss postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kokucka is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Kokucka is looking to reverse the position.
Moss controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Moss shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kokucka napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kokucka is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kokucka is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Moss's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Moss tries to pass to full mount but Kokucka defends it.
Kokucka tries to kick Moss off but Moss keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Moss's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kokucka is trying to stand back up but Moss is controlling him
Kokucka is looking for a sweep. Moss is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Moss slows the pace down in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moss prevents Kokucka from standing back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kokucka wants to control but Moss is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Kokucka is in trouble now - Moss has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Moss dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Moss bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kokucka tries to bench press Moss off him but Moss keeps the position.
Moss content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Moss tries to advance to mount but can't.
Kokucka is trying to work for a sweep but Moss has mounted him!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kokucka is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Moss looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moss looking to control but Kokucka is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kokucka really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Moss controlling his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kokucka keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Moss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Kokucka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Moss counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jay Moss.
Kokucka fails with the takedown
and Moss counters with a one-two to the body.

Moss drives through with a takedown into guard.
Moss looking to pass the guard.
Moss is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kokucka wants to stand and escape but Moss is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kokucka is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kokucka is looking to stand up but Moss isn't so interested in that idea.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Moss's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kokucka keeping moving, preventing Moss from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Moss misses with a jab, cross combination.
Moss shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Moss misses with a series of wild punches.
Moss tries to clinch there but Kokucka circles away.
Moss shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kokucka defends it nicely.
Moss throws a series of punches but Kokucka avoids them all with ease.
Some wild striking there from Moss.

Moss is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kokucka's half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kokucka preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Kokucka is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kokucka pushes Moss off looking to stand but Moss dives back in and keeps control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Moss is looking to advance position but Kokucka won't allow it.
Moss is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Moss comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Moss has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
