PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Orpik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osama Arab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Osama Arab!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arab misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Orpik.
Osama Arab seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Orpik with that takedown attempt.
Arab looks to land a combination but Orpik avoids it well.
Arab slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Orpik scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Orpik looks to land a strike but Arab avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Orpik prevents Arab from getting back to his feet.
Orpik postures up in Arab's guard and throws a big left but Arab blocks it.

Orpik drops back, looking for a kneebar! Arab looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Arab looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Arab!

Arab seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Orpik keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Orpik is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Orpik tries to hold on but Arab postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Orpik is trying to escape the mount.

Arab is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Arab throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

It looks like Jason Orpik has been cut.
Arab stuffs the takedown attempt from Orpik. Orpik gets slowly back to his feet.
Arab lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Orpik circles away quickly and effectively.

That's time! Orpik's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Arab scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Orpik on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Arab cracks Orpik with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Arab gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Orpik to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Orpik might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Orpik wants to control from the top but Arab keeps moving.
Orpik is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Orpik seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Orpik.
Arab misses with the combination.

Arab digs a good hook to Orpik's body.
Arab throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Orpik walks into a straight right hand from Arab.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
No joy there for Arab, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Orpik takes one to the side of the head.
Orpik dodges the punch combination from Arab.
Arab is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Orpik takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The crowd cheers as Arab lands an impressive looking overhand right. Orpik doesn't seem phased though.

Osama Arab showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Arab connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Orpik momentarily.
Arab lands a jab.
Orpik moves forwards but Arab connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Horrible takedown by Orpik or perhaps it was just good defense by Arab which made him look bad.
Arab's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Arab duly obliges.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice straight punches there by Arab. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Arab.
Arab throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Orpik colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Arab as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Orpik is left battered and dazed whilst Arab and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Osama Arab!
