Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dog Crazy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Merengue (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merengue is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Flood of Red - Dont Sleep, Swim.. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dog Crazy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Merengue!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crazy moves into the clinch.
Crazy wants to stall.
Merengue working hard to break the clinch.
Crazy is stalling here.
Crazy throws a knee to the head but misses.
Crazy has Merengue pushed against the cage.

Merengue pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Merengue looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Crazy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Merengue did well to prevent Crazy getting side control.
Crazy trying to mount his opponent but Merengue defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Merengue is looking to improve his position.

Merengue is trying to control but can't.
Crazy is pressing down on Merengue's thigh, looking to free his foot. Merengue is holding on for now.
Merengue is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Crazy keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Merengue throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Merengue shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Merengue stuffs the takedown.
Crazy blocks a low kick nicely.
Merengue circles away from the clinch attempt.
Merengue pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Crazy wants to clinch up but Merengue keeps it at a distance.
Merengue throws a head kick that Crazy semi-blocks.


It looks like Dog Crazy has been cut.
Merengue tries to work over Crazy's front leg with a kick but Crazy checks it.
Merengue throws a wild body kick that Crazy sees coming a mile off.
Merengue misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Crazy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Crazy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Merengue was covering up waiting for the punch and Crazy finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Merengue looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Merengue is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Crazy sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Crazy postures up.
Crazy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Merengue swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dog Crazy will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Dog Crazy's cut.
That's time! Crazy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Merengue misses with a body kick.
Crazy blocks a head kick by Merengue.
Crazy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Dog Crazy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Good leg kick by Merengue there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Merengue tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Crazy is able to avoid easily.
Merengue motions for Crazy to come forward. Merengue throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Merengue throws a shot from downtown. Crazy moves away and avoids it.

Crazy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Merengue wants to improve his position but Crazy is controlling well.
Still in half guard, Crazy seems content to control.

Merengue is trying to get back to full guard.
Crazy sitting and controlling from the half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Merengue is looking to control Crazy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Merengue avoid being mounted?
Merengue keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Merengue wants to get back to full guard but Crazy has mounted him!
Crazy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Crazy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Merengue is looking to escape.
Merengue really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Merengue is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Crazy controlling his opponent.
Merengue slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Merengue preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Merengue is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dog Crazy will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Merengue lands a high kick!
Merengue throws a front kick aimed at Crazy's knee but Crazy avoids it well.
Crazy avoids the head kick by Merengue.
Mike Merengue seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crazy dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Merengue is looking to slow Crazy down with leg kicks.
Some bone on bone action there as Crazy checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Crazy takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Crazy moves out of range as Merengue throws a body kick.
Merengue is looking to land body kicks.
Merengue avoids a punch combination nicely.
Crazy blocks a low kick nicely.
Crazy takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Crazy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Merengue keeping hold of Crazy's head, controlling as best he can.

Merengue trying to control here.
Merengue is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Crazy is thwarting Merengue's attempts to control the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Crazy looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Merengue trying to control here.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Merengue controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Crazy wants to free his trapped foot but Merengue is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Dog Crazy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Merengue is looking for a sweep. Crazy is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mike Merengue has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Merengue tries to roll over but Crazy keeps him under control.

Mike Merengue comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Crazy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
