The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice defenses there by Grande.
Grande shoots for a double leg takedown but Vlad sprawls well. He's pushed Grande's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Grande drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

It looks like Clayton Grande has been cut.

Grande misses with a takedown attempt - Vlad sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Grande tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vlad swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Grande cracks Vlad with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Grande lands a high kick to the side of Vlad's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Grande dives into guard, looking to finish.

Vlad wants to stand but Grande is controlling the position.

Vlad seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vlad can do anything to dispel that myth.

Vlad's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Vlad really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grande. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
