PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert Tribbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Wisco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robert Tribbett had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Tribbett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Wisco!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wisco tries a head kick but it misses.
Wisco connects with a high kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tribbett looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Tribbett tries for a takedown but Wisco sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Wisco moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Tribbett closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tribbett lands in his opponent's guard.

Tribbett wanted to stand there but Wisco had control of the position.

Tribbett drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Wisco manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tribbett has Wisco in his guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tribbett looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Wisco passes Tribbett's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Tribbett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wisco is looking to take a break and control but Tribbett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Wisco trying to mount his opponent but Tribbett defends it.
Wisco is trying to control the action in half guard but Tribbett is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Wisco is trying to get an arm triangle but Tribbett is defending well.
Tribbett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wisco wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Wisco wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tribbett, who protects the arm well.
Tribbett sneaks back into half guard.

Wisco seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tribbett does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wisco slows the pace down in half guard.
Tribbett is not content to let Wisco control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Wisco will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tribbett tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wisco paws at him with a jab and circles away.

A looping hook to the body misses from Tribbett. Wisco does a little dance to reset his feet.

Tribbett doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Wisco gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Tribbett to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Tribbett sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wisco's guard.

Tribbett is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wisco has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wisco is looking for a sweep. Tribbett is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wisco regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Tribbett.
Tribbett tries to free his leg and advance position but Wisco is retaining full guard.

Tribbett is working hard here to advance position.
Wisco controls Tribbett momentarily but Tribbett frees himself.
Tribbett won't allow Wisco to get back to his feet.
Tribbett stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wisco swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Tribbett avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Wisco. Tribbett shrugs it off though.

Wisco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Wisco goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Tribbett fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wisco lands a nice looking body kick.
A thudding body kick lands there by Wisco!
Wisco pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wisco scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Tribbett gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Wisco cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wisco changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Wisco throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Tribbett.
Tribbett tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Wisco counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Tribbett is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Tribbett tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Wisco counters with a two punch combo.
Matt Wisco is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wisco slips a jab and a cross from Tribbett.
Tribbett wants to clinch up but Wisco keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Wisco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Wisco thumps Tribbett with a low kick.

Tribbett closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Tribbett is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Wisco to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Wisco shrugs it off.
Tribbett postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wisco looks a forlorn figure.

Tribbett wants to take Wisco's back here but Wisco is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tribbett pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Tribbett swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Wisco is now in Tribbett's guard. A big mistake from Tribbett there, giving up the dominant position!
Wisco wants to control from the top but Tribbett keeps moving.
Tribbett controls Wisco momentarily but Wisco frees himself.

Tribbett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wisco doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wisco manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tribbett is looking for a triangle here but Wisco uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Wisco tries to advance to mount but can't.
Tribbett is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wisco's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Tribbett wants to get back to his feet.
Tribbett tries to roll over but Wisco keeps him under control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tribbett is refusing to be controlled, as Wisco sits in half guard.

Tribbett wants to get back to his feet but Wisco is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I think Wisco has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
