PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brosif Stalin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Hoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stalin comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome to Jamrock - Damian Marley. Ryu Hoshi has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brosif Stalin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Hoshi!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stalin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hoshi avoids a punch combination nicely.

Stalin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hoshi was covering up waiting for the punch and Stalin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Stalin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stalin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hoshi wants to stand and escape but Stalin is having none of it.

Stalin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Stalin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Stalin being controlled here momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stalin slips nicely into half guard.
Hoshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stalin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stalin prevents Hoshi from improving his position.

Hoshi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Stalin pulls his head out easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hoshi is trying to stand back up but Stalin is controlling him

Stalin stands up out of the half guard.
Hoshi keeps Stalin at a distance using the push kick.
Hoshi throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jab by Stalin.
Brosif Stalin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoshi throws a head kick that Stalin semi-blocks.
Stalin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hoshi paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stalin does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Stalin misses with a combination
and Hoshi counters with a left to the body.
Stalin connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
A right-left combo lands from Stalin.
Hoshi throws a combination that misses

and Stalin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hoshi!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stalin looking to control but Hoshi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Stalin has hold of Hoshi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hoshi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Stalin is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hoshi really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Stalin is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hoshi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hoshi's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Hoshi is working to get back to half guard.

Stalin throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Hoshi has his hands clasped together but Stalin breaks the hold and Hoshi is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Stalin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brosif Stalin!
