The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Coleman to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Coleman is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.
Coleman wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Coleman manages to get himself to full guard.

Coleman wriggles free and stands up.
Silva lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Coleman ducks right into an uppercut from Silva.

Coleman shoots in for a takedown but Silva shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Silva is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Silva lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Coleman backs up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Silva throws a series of strikes that have Coleman backpedaling.

Silva drops Coleman with a beautiful combination! Coleman stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Silva is looking for the KO!


It looks like Ronnie Coleman has been cut.
Coleman walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
BOOM! Silva lands a beautiful left hook that drops Coleman. Coleman tries to recover but Silva is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Coleman lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Silva!
