PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Rimmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBride comes into the arena with Surfin Dead blaring out of the sound system. McBride is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Scott McBride has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott McBride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Arnold Rimmer!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBride is looking to clinch.
McBride is breathing heavily.
Rimmer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McBride wants to land a leg kick but Rimmer is out of range.

Rimmer gets in close and instigates a clinch.
McBride wants to get back to striking at distance but Rimmer won't allow it.
Rimmer jumps guard but McBride stands there with Rimmer around his waist. Rimmer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rimmer crunches a lovely knee into McBride's ribcage.
Rimmer keeps control of McBride as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
McBride stops a takedown attempt from Rimmer.
Scott McBride has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnold Rimmer.
McBride prevents a takedown attempt there.
McBride takes a knee right on the jaw!

That's one minute gone in the round.
McBride has had enough of the clinch but Rimmer keeps him there for the moment.

Rimmer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Rimmer wants to lay and pray for a moment but McBride keeps working.

Rimmer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McBride knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McBride tries to escape but Rimmer is in control.

Rimmer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McBride has escaped the position, nice work there.

Rimmer looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
McBride is trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rimmer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rimmer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rimmer moves into full mount!
Rimmer is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Rimmer content just to control the position here.

Rimmer has control of McBride's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McBride regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rimmer tries to control but McBride wriggling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rimmer goes for an armbar but he's not got it… McBride turns into him and now he's in Rimmer's guard.
Rimmer has a closed guard, preventing McBride from standing up.
Rimmer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rimmer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as McBride is looking to escape.
McBride holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rimmer tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rimmer sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
McBride is trying to escape the mount but Rimmer keeps good control and instead manages to take McBride's back.
Rimmer lands shots from the back.


McBride is rocked!


It looks like Scott McBride has been cut.
McBride is covering up but some of the strikes from Rimmer are getting through and doing damage.
Oh McBride is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

McBride is trying to defend against the choke here but Rimmer has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Rimmer Tightens the hold and McBride taps out furiously! Rimmer displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Arnold Rimmer!
