PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Stelter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tsui Nakamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sebastian Stelter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tsui Nakamura!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakamura fails with the takedown.
Stelter takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Nakamura throws the left hand but Stelter avoids the punch easily.
Stelter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stelter slaps away a takedown attempt from Nakamura, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Nakamura gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Stelter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Stelter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nakamura swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Stelter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nakamura manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Stelter has Nakamura in his guard.
Stelter is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nakamura is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stelter is adopting a defensive guard.
Nakamura postures up in Stelter's guard and throws a big left but Stelter blocks it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nakamura pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stelter is keeping the position for now.
Nakamura trying to control the position from guard on top but Stelter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nakamura looking to sit in guard and control but Stelter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Nakamura looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Stelter puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nakamura is trying to control but Stelter manages to pass to mount!

Stelter stands up from mount. Strange move.
Nakamura tries for a takedown but Stelter circles away easily
and Stelter counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Sebastian Stelter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tsui Nakamura.

Stelter moves into the clinch.
Stelter gets underhooks to prevent Nakamura's takedown attempt.
Nakamura displaying some good clinch control by pressing Stelter up against the cage.
Stelter stalling.
Nakamura has had enough of the clinch but Stelter keeps him there for the moment.

Stelter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stelter misses with a takedown attempt - Nakamura sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stelter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Stelter keeping moving, preventing Nakamura from controlling successfully.
Stelter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nakamura manages to get himself to full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stelter's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Stelter dominated that round.
That's time! Stelter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Stelter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Stelter tries for a takedown. No joy.
Nakamura is trying to break the clinch but Stelter has him pressed against the cage.
Stelter looking to slow down the pace here.
Stelter tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Stelter prevents a takedown attempt there.
Nakamura wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Stelter breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Nakamura decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stelter's guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sebastian Stelter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stelter uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Nakamura shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Stelter as he avoids it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Stelter.
Stelter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Nakamura to see if he's OK.
Nakamura seems a little lost for a moment, as Stelter dominates the positioning.

Stelter has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Nakamura tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Stelter counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stelter.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nakamura is looking for a triangle here but Stelter uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Nakamura manages to get back to half guard.
Nakamura trying to control from the bottom.
Nakamura might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Stelter kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Nakamura tries to roll over but Stelter keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Stelter lands strikes from half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stelter in particular looking to stall.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Stelter working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Stelter stands up and beckons Nakamura to join him on the feet.

and Stelter counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Nakamura looks like he's trying to stand up.

Nakamura is trying is best to control the position here.
Stelter controlling the action here.
Nakamura is looking for a sweep. Stelter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Stelter decides to stand up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nakamura is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stelter's half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stelter has one foot on Nakamura's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Stelter dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Nakamura attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Stelter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sebastian Stelter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stelter clinches but Nakamura breaks the clinch

and Nakamura counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stelter's guard now.
Nakamura must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Nakamura is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stelter is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stelter has escaped and now he's on top!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nakamura wants to get back to his feet but Stelter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stelter passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Nakamura tries to control but Stelter manages to take his back.
Stelter is not going to allow Nakamura to sit and survive in this position.
Nakamura tries to escape the position.
Nakamura is trying to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Nakamura defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Stelter's arms.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Nakamura breaks Stelter's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Stelter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nakamura is one step ahead there.
Stelter pulls Nakamura in close to prevent any damage.
Nakamura throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Stelter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Stelter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Stelter manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stelter sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Nakamura sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Nakamura trying to hold on to Stelter's head to control him but Stelter postures up.
Tsui Nakamura has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sebastian Stelter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sebastian Stelter.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stelter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
