PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Chesser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grant has chosen Diesel Power as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Tim Chesser has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chesser fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Grant stuffs the takedown.
Chesser shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grant but Grant pushes him off and we're back to square one.
No joy there for Chesser, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Grant looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Chesser throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grant's waist but Grant gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chesser off to one side.

Grant tries to bum rush Chesser with a series of wild strikes but Chesser uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Larry Grant is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chesser tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grant was well out of range. Poor timing from Chesser.

and Grant connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Chesser throws a nice looking combination but Grant bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Chesser drops his hands momentarily and Grant takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Grant throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chesser.
Chesser shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Grant defends it nicely.
Chesser rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Grant moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chesser swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chesser closes the distance and clinches up with Grant, looking for a takedown. Chesser pushes Grant against the cage but Grant circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Chesser. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grant can do anything to dispel that myth.

Grant really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chesser. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Chesser is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Grant is trying to escape and Chesser transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Grant is forced to tap! Nice work there by Chesser! Very nice indeed!
