Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gravy Train (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Luther (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gravy Train!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Martin Luther!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luther drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Train on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Luther throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Train tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Train is not content to let Luther control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Luther is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Train fails with the takedown

and Luther counters by clinching up.
Train wants a takedown.
Train tries a knee to the head but Luther blocks it.
Train tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Luther smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gravy Train. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Train looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Luther actively working from the bottom here.
Luther wants to control but Train is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Train thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Luther to regain full guard.
Luther is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Train postures up in Luther's guard and throws a big left but Luther blocks it.
Luther is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Train throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Luther works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Luther is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Train gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Luther to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Luther sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Train can't keep his opponent in guard - Luther advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Luther sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Train defending well though.
Luther is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Train!
Train is squirming around, avoiding Luther's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martin Luther dominated that round.
That's time! Train's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Luther is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Train closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Luther did well to prevent Train getting side control.

Train is looking for a kimura here.
Luther is trying to control but Train manages to pass to mount!
Luther is squirming around, avoiding Train's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Luther blocking the ground and pound.
Luther regains half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Luther trying to control but Train postures up.
Luther wants to get back to his feet.
Luther is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Train's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Train's back!
Luther has the hooks in. Train is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Luther misses with a punch to the head.
Luther controlling the position well here. Train rolled but Luther kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Train covering up well under a series of strikes from Luther.
Luther wants to control but Train manages to buck him off and is now in Luther's guard! Nice work there by Train!
Train throwing strikes from guard but Luther blocks nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Train trying to control the position from guard on top but Luther is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Train shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
You get the feeling that Luther really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Luther is trying to escape the mount.
Train looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Luther wants to hold on but Train pushes him away.

Train moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Luther has worked his arm free - good work by Luther!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Luther is trying to control Train's posture but Train avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Train seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Train tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Luther is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Luther manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Train throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Luther trying to control here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gravy Train dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Train moves in looking to clinch but Luther pushes him off.

Luther has Train up against the cage in a clinch.
Train looking to throw knees to the head but Luther is blocking nicely.
Train comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Luther drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Train gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Luther is trying to break the clinch but Train is controlling him.

Train works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Train preventing the sweep.
Train has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Train throwing strikes but missing.
Luther trying to keep a closed guard but Train is proving a slippery customer.
Train is looking to work some ground and pound but Luther has wrist control.
Luther looking to hit a scissor sweep but Train is one step ahead there.

Train pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Luther is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Luther escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Train gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Luther trying to control the position.
Gravy Train overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Train is looking to work some ground and pound but Luther has wrist control.
Luther is trying to keep Train in close.

Train thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Train trying to control the position from guard on top but Luther is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Train postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Luther is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Train, into his guard.
Luther trying to control but Train is working from the bottom.

Luther gets to his feet. Train looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Train avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Train tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Luther fails with the takedown.
Train is trying hard to land a takedown here. Luther sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Luther clinches.
Luther is trying to drag Train to the mat but Train just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gravy Train has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Martin Luther.
Luther tries to stall but Train uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Luther has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Luther has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Train is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
A knee to the head by Train.
Train lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Train breaks from the clinch.
Luther wants to clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Luther blocks a head kick by Train.
Train is looking to clinch.

Luther feints and as Train raises his hands in defense, Luther changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Luther thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Luther decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Train, up you get!

Luther forces Train back against the cage and clinches.
Train tries to pull guard but Luther won't allow it.
Train drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Martin Luther comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Luther has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
