PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Nutter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Fists (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brandon Nutter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mr Fists!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nutter tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Fists is able to avoid easily.
Nutter throws a right hand that Fists ducks under and follows up with a left that Fists also avoids with ease.
Nutter shoots in looking for a takedown. Fists tries to sprawl out of it but Nutter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fists manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nutter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fists.
Fists is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Nutter takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Fists avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nutter loads up on a big right hand but Fists slips the punch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nutter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fists missing with a left hand there. Nutter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nutter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Nutter. No joy for Fists on that attempt.

It looks like Brandon Nutter has been cut.

Fists escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nutter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fists's guard.
Fists wants to sweep but no luck.

Nutter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Fists pushes Nutter off and scrambles back to his feet.
Fists keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nutter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fists moves away.
Nutter scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Nutter displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fists throws out the jab.

Nutter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fists stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nutter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nutter is not content to let Fists control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fists decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Nutter throws a series of punches but Fists moves out of range.
Brandon Nutter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nutter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Fists misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Fists throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fists shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nutter defends it nicely.
Brandon Nutter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr Fists.
Nutter lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Fists displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Nutter throws out the jab.

Nutter throws a looping overhand right but Fists ducks down to avoid it.

Fists shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fists seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nutter does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Nutter is looking to control Fists's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nutter avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters circle momentarily. Fists darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Nutter misses the jab.
Brandon Nutter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nutter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fists misses with a jab, cross combination.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Nutter.
Fists tries to bum rush Nutter with a series of wild strikes but Nutter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fists uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nutter.
