PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gray Moynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Mark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moynard comes to the cage accompanied by taste of ink. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mark shoots in for a takedown but Moynard shows good takedown defense.

and Mark counters with a nice double leg into side control. Moynard won't be happy with that.
Moynard is trying to get back to his feet.
Moynard tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moynard is trying to shake Mark off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Mark won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Mark closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Moynard to the mat! Moynard manages to get full guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mark's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Mark stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moynard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mark stands up and waves to Moynard to follow him.
Moynard misses with a takedown

and Mark counters with a single leg into guard. Moynard didn't expect that.
Moynard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moynard is breathing heavily.
Mark is looking to stand up but Moynard won't let him.
Mark sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Moynard's guard.
Moynard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Moynard tries to get out of the position.
Mark lands with a punch from half guard.

Mark decides to stand and escape the position.
Moynard tries for a takedown but Mark circles away easily

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mark is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Moynard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mark on the ground.
Moynard wants to stand and escape but Mark is having none of it.

Moynard trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Mark lands a nice shot to the head.
Mark cracks Moynard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Mark can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Moynard is looking to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Moynard squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Mark tries to control but Moynard wriggling away.
Mark tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mark lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Moynard is bucking up trying to escape but Mark cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jon Mark dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Moynard closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mark to the mat! Mark manages to get full guard.

Mark has his foot on Moynard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Moynard works his way back into a safe position though.
Mark wants to stand and escape but Moynard is having none of it.
Mark wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Moynard is sitting in close to Mark's body. Mark has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Moynard is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Moynard is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Mark.
