Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leo Leapcat!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fails with the takedown
and Gracie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Leapcat misses with a double jab

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Leapcat won't be happy with that.

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Leapcat looking for a sweep but Gracie has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie won't let Leapcat get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Leapcat can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gracie is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Leapcat is surviving well by controlling Gracie's body position as best he can.

Gracie is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Leapcat has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Gracie looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Leapcat manages to control the position for a moment.
Leapcat is looking to improve his position but Gracie isn't that keen on the idea.
Leapcat is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Gracie is working for a guillotine from mount but Leapcat frees his head quite easily.

Gracie is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Leapcat has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Gracie dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gracie has his takedown stuffed
and Leapcat counters with a two punch combo.
The fight stays on the outside here - Leapcat looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Leapcat rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leapcat is trying to control but Gracie manages to pass to mount!
Royce Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Leapcat tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gracie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Leapcat to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Leapcat shrugs it off.
Leapcat is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.
Leapcat is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Leapcat can't escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gracie is working for a guillotine from mount but Leapcat frees his head quite easily.

Leapcat holds on for dear life.

Leapcat defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gracie.

Gracie working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Leapcat can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Royce Gracie dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gracie keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Leapcat throws a right hand that misses

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Leapcat is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Leapcat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.

Gracie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leapcat keeps working.

Gracie is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Leapcat won't allow Gracie to pass to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gracie seems to be looking for submissions.
Leo Leapcat has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Leapcat is looking to improve his position.
Leapcat is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.
Leapcat has a hand on Gracie's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gracie takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Leapcat wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Royce Gracie is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Leapcat working to try and regain half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Royce Gracie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
