The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries a head kick but it misses.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says McGraw as he avoids it easily.

McGraw scores with a takedown into Johnson's guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

McGraw drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Johnson dives on top into guard.
McGraw lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson!
Johnson is looking to improve his position but McGraw isn't that keen on the idea.

McGraw frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Johnson wants to control but McGraw is having none of it.
McGraw is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Johnson is in real trouble.
McGraw really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Johnson.

McGraw is looking for the choke from the back position but Johnson is controlling his hands well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGraw is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

McGraw is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Johnson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

McGraw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

McGraw is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Johnson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

McGraw jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Johnson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Johnson and McGraw has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jerome McGraw just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

McGraw has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Johnson! Can he survive? No! He's out! McGraw gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
