PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ray Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunn comes to the cage accompanied by England belongs to me. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Pearce!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearce thows a left - swing and a miss!

Gunn gets a takedown into half guard.
Gunn performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Pearce is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pearce is refusing to be controlled, as Gunn sits in half guard.
Gunn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Pearce makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pearce.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gunn trying to control but Pearce is working from the bottom.
Pearce is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gunn is controlling him.

Pearce throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gunn connects with a nice looking jab.
Gunn slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Gunn closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pearce is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Gunn is keeping busy.
Gunn prevents Pearce from breaking the clinch.
Gunn drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pearce pulls his leg out and moves away.
A thudding body kick lands there by Gunn!
Gunn cracks Pearce with a good jab.

Gunn feints and as Pearce raises his hands in defense, Gunn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Pearce looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pearce wants to get back to his feet but Gunn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Pearce preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Gunn stands up over Pearce, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Gunn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Pearce doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Gunn pushes down on Pearce's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Gunn looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gunn connects with a nice short shot to Pearce's temple.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Pearce is not content to let Gunn control the position.

Gunn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pearce doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gunn.
Gunn lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gunn takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Still in half guard, Gunn seems content to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ray Gunn.
Pearce tries to clinch up

and Gunn counters by moving into the clinch.
Nice elbow from Gunn.

Gunn is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pearce can't fight it off and eventually Gunn manages to take the fight to the floor. Pearce looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Gunn postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Pearce to stand up.
Gunn lands a glancing blow to the side of Pearce's head.

Gunn looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Pearce!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A nice elbow there by Gunn.
Gunn takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gunn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gunn showed some decent athleticism there.
Gunn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Pearce wants to stand back up but Gunn manages to pass into side control.

Gunn wants to control but Pearce is keeping him busy.
Gunn is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pearce is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

A big shot lands for Gunn! That's hurt Pearce! Will he recover? Gunn fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
