The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morgan tries to clinch there but Maynard circles away.
Maynard swats away the attempt to clinch by Morgan.

Morgan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Maynard to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Morgan wriggles free and stands up.
Maynard throws a hook but Morgan avoids it easily.

and Morgan counters with a straight right hand.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Maynard is defended easily by Morgan.

Maynard bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Morgan wants to get back to his feet.
Morgan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maynard on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Morgan misses with a few strikes there.

Maynard darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Maynard throwing shots but Morgan is blocking nicely.
Maynard stops Morgan from getting back to his feet.

Maynard is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Morgan pushes Maynard off looking to stand but Maynard dives back in and keeps control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Maynard closes the distance but Morgan moves to the side
and Morgan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Gray Maynard has been cut.

Morgan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Morgan lands a left and a right that send Maynard crashing to the mat, dazed. Morgan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Morgan stalks Maynard and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Maynard's face. Maynard staggers backwards, shaken.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Morgan has cracked Maynard with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Morgan lands another huge swinging hook and Maynard tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Maynard, before Morgan can land any more shots!
