The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away.
Sullivan throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Sullivan shoots in but Smith avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sullivan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sullivan keeps Smith at a distance using the push kick.

Sullivan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Smith, pushing him back against the cage.

Sullivan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jim Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Sullivan.

Sullivan is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Smith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Sullivan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Smith just stands there and leans against the cage.
