The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Plaza takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Plaza is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smith.

and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Smith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Smith takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Smith works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Frank Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Plaza shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.

and Plaza counters with a good, hard body kick but Smith shrugs it off.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Plaza feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Plaza connects with a nice short shot to Smith's temple.

Plaza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Plaza eventually gives up the hold.
