Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Lipponen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Kraken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kraken has chosen Battle Without Honor Or Humanity as his entrance music. The key to victory for Pekka Lipponen has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kraken shoots for a double leg takedown but Lipponen sprawls well. He's pushed Kraken's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lipponen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lipponen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kraken chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lipponen can pounce on him.
Lipponen looks to land a right hand but Kraken moved out of range.
Lipponen leaves Kraken with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Kraken misses the target.

Kraken fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lipponen sprawls well initially but Kraken persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lipponen is looking to control Kraken's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lipponen avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kraken thows a huge punch but Lipponen dodges it nicely.

Lipponen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lipponen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kraken swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kraken really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lipponen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lipponen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lipponen holds on and takes a little breather.

Kraken drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lipponen dives on top into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lipponen wants to pass the guard but Kraken is keeping the position.
Kraken wants to sweep but no luck.
Lipponen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Kraken has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

It looks like The Kraken has been cut.
Lipponen lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kraken's sensitive parts.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That has opened up The Kraken's cut even more.

Lipponen waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Kraken. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Kraken to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Kraken is still in real trouble! Can Lipponen finish him?
Lipponen is working Kraken over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kraken takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kraken drops his hands momentarily and Lipponen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Lipponen manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Kraken has had enough of the clinch but Lipponen keeps him there for the moment.

Lipponen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kraken can do to turn this around?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Pekka Lipponen.

Kraken feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
