Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joao Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Carl Orff - Carmina Burana - André Rieu's version. Travis Parker will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joao Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Travis Parker!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker scores with a nice strike.
Parker throws a right and a left that Alves avoids nicely.
Alves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Parker was covering up waiting for the punch and Alves finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Parker is looking to stand back up but Alves counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Parker.
Alves stops Parker from getting back to his feet.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alves lands a nice short elbow.
Parker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alves prevents Parker from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Parker is staying active underneath Alves, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Parker is looking to get back to is feet but Alves passes into side control.
Parker is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Alves has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Alves trying to control the action but Parker is working from the bottom.
Alves landing strikes.

Parker is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Alves asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Alves is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Parker knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Parker is looking to get back to his feet here but Alves is keeping cool and he's managed to take Parker's back.

Parker is squirming around looking to escape but he's just wriggling himself into more trouble. Alves sinks in the hooks and manages to tighten his grip on a rear naked choke. Parker has no choice but to tap and Alves jumps to his feet to celebrate and slick submission win!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joao Alves!
