PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jason Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adam Monroe is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Stout!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Monroe!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Stout drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Stout creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Monroe sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Stout will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Stout working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Stout tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Monroe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stout. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Monroe wants to get back to his feet but Stout drags him back down.
Monroe is looking to regain half guard here but Stout keeps moving and retains side control.
Monroe wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Stout wants to lay and pray for a moment but Monroe keeps working.

Stout is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Monroe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Stout trying to control the position but Monroe is working away.

Monroe defending against the ground and pound.
Monroe is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Stout throws a strike aimed at the side of Monroe's head but Monroe avoids it well.

Stout working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Stout is breathing heavily.
Monroe parries the strikes from Stout easily there. Stout is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Monroe to escape.
Monroe is trying to get back to his feet.

Stout is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Monroe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Stout in side control, throwing shots but Monroe defends.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Monroe sneaks back into half guard.
Monroe is trying to stand up here but Stout is controlling him well.

Stout is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stout is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Stout trying to control the action but Monroe is working from the bottom.
Monroe regains full guard. Nicely done.
Monroe controls Stout momentarily but Stout frees himself.

Monroe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stout defends well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stout is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Monroe wriggles free and stands up.
A head kick misses from Stout.
Stout tries to clinch there but Monroe circles away.
Stout shoots in looking for a takedown. Monroe tries to sprawl out of it but Stout keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Monroe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Monroe misses with a jab, cross combination.
Monroe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Stout counters with a takedown into side control.
Monroe trying to remain calm as Stout controls from the top position.
Stout tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Stout is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Monroe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Monroe is not content to let Stout control the position.

Stout looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Monroe is looking for a sweep.
Monroe is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Stout has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Stout has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stout is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Monroe is trying to escape and Stout transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Monroe is forced to tap! Nice work there by Stout! Very nice indeed!
